Men’s Golf Takes Fifth at GNAC Championships

GORHAM, Maine – Suffolk men's golf garnered fifth at the 2019 GNAC Championships over the weekend at the Gorham Country Club. 

The Rams' turned in the third-lowest second-round card of 313 to subtract the most strokes (20) on the second day in this year's conference championships after a 333 on Saturday to finish with a combined 646, good for fifth in the eight-team field.  

Southern Maine captured the crown with a sub-600 team score of 596, eight strokes ahead of runner-up Johnson & Wales. The hosts, Saint Joseph's (Maine) shared third place with UMass Dartmouth with 633.  

Elias Sachs had the standout individual showing. Out of the fourth position, the senior improved on his Saturday score of 80 with a 77 on Sunday to finish with a 157 good for a tie for 12th.  

Owen Boggini shared 20th after shooting an 84 and 77, respectively.   

Andrew HarperBrian Dunleavy and Demetrois Stamoulis all finished within one stroke of one another to claim 25th through 27th. Harper had a 165 and Stamoulis put together a 167 with Dunleavy finishing between the seniors.  

Next weekend, Oct. 19-20 Suffolk concludes its fall calendar at the NEIGA Championships at Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Massachusetts.
