Men’s Golf Wins RIC Homecoming Invitational

WARWICK, R.I. – Suffolk men's golf put an exclamation point on its championship prep Friday night when the Rams captured the four-team RIC Homecoming Invitational at the Valley Country Club.

The blue-and-gold combined for a team 328 just one stroke ahead of the invitational host Rhode Island College to take home the title. Wentworth (337) and Western New England (352) completed the four-team field in third and fourth, respectively.

Owen Boggini was on pace to take home individual bragging rights as the Tolland, Connecticut, local shot close to par for the majority of the course. The Anchormen's Evan Moore outshot Boggini, however, by two strokes to put the Suffolk senior as the 19-golfer field's runner-up with a 76, four strokes above par.

Elias Sachswas two spots behind his classmate in fourth with an 18-hole score of 79. Andrew Harper's 86 put the senior in a tie for 12th, while Brian Dunleavy was one stroke behind in a share of 14th with an 87.

Demetrois Stamoulis completed the Rams' scorers with an 89, good for 17th.

Shawn Nosky competed as an individual and shared ninth with a score of 85.

The one-day outing served as final prep for Suffolk before it competes for conference crowns with the GNAC Championships set for next weekend, October 12-13, at the Gorham Country Club in Gorham, Maine.
