BOSTON – Suffolk baseball takes a break from conference competition with midweek action against Endicott and Nichols on the schedule. The Rams will first visit the Gulls Wednesday, April 3 for a 3:30 p.m. tilt, before welcoming the Bison to East Boston for a 4 p.m. battle.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk baseball locked up a GNAC series sweep over Colby Sawyer Sunday afternoon behind an 8-3 triumph in game two at East Boston Memorial Park.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk swept its pair of GNAC double features over the weekend to improve to 13-7-1 on the year.  

The Rams, who are on an eight-game win streak, see seven of its nine everyday hitters producing over a .300 clip paced by Will Hopkins' .431 average. The sophomore center, who slugs .615, has 28 hits, 11 RBI and 20 runs to his credit. His stealth on the bags has also paid off with an impressive 14 stolen bases. Tim Brigham, meanwhile, is hitting .388 and slugging .622 with 16 of his 31 hits going for extra bases including 13 doubles. He has brought in a team-best 26 runs and scored 12 himself. 

During midweek action, Suffolk has been known to use multiple arms from its staff, which has combined for a 3.82 ERA and 111 strikeouts. Michael Muscarellaleads the way when it comes to ERA as the freshman has put together a 0.55 earned-run average over 16.1 innings of action with just one earned run allowed on nine hits, one walk with 11 punchouts on his stat line. 

GET TO KNOW THE GULLS
Endicott (10-7) starts a hectic week of play at No. 23 UMass Boston Tuesday, April 2 before welcoming Suffolk to North Field Wednesday, April 3.  

At bat Matt Bald is the lead as the senior utility player is hitting .362 with 21 hits on the season, eight RBI and 16 runs scored. Kyle Brennan, who is batting .349, has a team-best 22 hits and brought in seven runs. John Duffy adds 21 hits on a .313 batting average to the offense with 11 runs scored to go with five RBI. 

The Gulls top two starting arms are Kevin Gould and Joseph Oriola. Gould, a RHP, brings in a 0.67 ERA with 36 Ks through 26.2 innings in five appearances and starts, while Oriola holds an ERA of 2.74 with 19 strikeouts over 23.0 innings in six appearances and five starts. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk and Endicott have been active non-conference foes in recent years and will meet for the 27th time Wednesday. 
  • The Rams split its last doubleheader with the Gulls to wrap up the 2018 regular season and move to 11-16 all-time versus the Gulls. 
  • Under Anthony Del Prete's leadership, Suffolk boasts a 4-7 record versus Endicott. 

EYES ON THE GAME
 

BISON BREAKDOWN
Nichols will have a few days off before traveling to Boston 10-9 on the season after defeating Roger Williams, 9-2, in game two of a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) doubleheader. 

David Caron and Christian Naccari each have 28 hits to their credit. Caron leads the way in average, hitting .368, while Naccari, who is batting .341, has produced a team-best 28 RBI on an impressive seven homers, nine doubles and one triple.  

Brendan Duffy has the most experience on the hill with 29.0 innings, starting four of his eight appearances and holds a 2.17 ERA with 18 Ks. Robert Cobb is active on the mound with 19.2 frames of action scattered over 10 outings and one starting. He boasts a 3.20 ERA and 12 strikeouts. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk and Nichols will meet for the 36th time Thursday. 
  • The Rams gained an 18-17 edge in the all-time last year with a 7-2 victory over the Bison April 5, 2018. 
  • Suffolk is 1-0 versus Nichols in the Anthony Del Prete era.
