Casey Sheehan joined Scott Blanchard staff as a graduate assistant prior to the 2019 campaign and beings her second season with the Rams in 2020.

In addition to her coaching responsibilities, Sheehan works in the athletic department as a graduate assistant.

Sheehan’s first coaching season was a record-setting season. The 2019 Rams had the most wins program history with a 20-12 mark and tied the most victories against conference counterparts with a 9-3 league ledger. That effort was good for the fourth seed in the postseason, the highest finish since Suffolk joined the GNAC ranks in 1996, and hosting rights, a feat achieved just once before by the blue-and-gold. In the playoffs more headlines were made as the Rams advanced to the semifinals for the second straight season with its first-ever postseason straight set triumph.

Behind the winningest season, a pair of student-athletes were named to the All-GNAC Third-Team in Harmony Johnson and Hannah Fabiano, while Stephanie Rheaume picked up GNAC All-Tournament Team honors. Regionally, Johnson garnered NEWVA All-Rookie Team distinction and Sarah Mullahy was invited to compete in the NEWVA Senior All-Star Classic.

Straight off the court from a four-year career with the Rams’ GNAC competitor Emmanuel, Sheehan brings a fresh players perspective and a wealth of conference knowledge to a well-balanced coaching staff across title town.

As a player with the Saints, the defensive specialist immediately made an impact as a freshman and continuously contributed up to her final campaign as a senior in 2018. Over her storied four-year career, Sheehan saw action in 108 matches averaging 2.77 digs per set. She helped Emmanuel to the GNAC post-season three times including a semifinals showing as a freshman.

In the spring, she used her athleticism to benefit the Saints’ softball team. The two-time all-league honoree pushed Emmanuel to new limits as a catcher and outfielder helping the squad conference tournament appearances in each of her four seasons highlighted by a championship contest run as a freshman. In 155 games played, she compiled a slash line of .320/.378/.467 with 158 hits, 83 RBI, 96 runs scored and 22 stolen bases.

The two-sport collegiate athlete, who graduated from Emmanuel with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology with a concentration in health and counseling and a minor in neuroscience in May 2019, will continue her education at Suffolk, studying mental health counseling.
