suffolk sights DAVID J. SARGENT HALL

David J. Sargent Hall is the home of Suffolk University Law School.

The 300,000-square-foot, seven-story building is located in the heart of historic Boston along the Freedom Trail and steps from Boston Common.

Designed by Tsoi/Kobus Associates, the building opened in September 1999 on one of Boston's most prominent sites.

Named for Suffolk University President David J. Sargent, a graduate of Suffolk Law School, former dean and professor of law, Sargent Hall creates a distinctive identity for Suffolk University Law School and consolidates the school's curriculum and activities in one facility.

The building is emblematic of Suffolk Law's contributions to the field of law. It's classical lines are symbolic both of higher education and of the halls of justice. Yet it is accessible at street level, just as Suffolk Law School has always been accessible to all students, no matter what their means or backgrounds.

Includes 18 classrooms ranging in size from seminar rooms to lecture halls, three moot courtrooms, administrative and faculty offices, an alumni club, a bookstore, and a major law library that occupies the building's top floors.

In addition, Sargent Hall houses a number of undergraduate classes, and a cafeteria accessible to all students, as well as the Sawyer Business School's hub.

Suffolk university was founded in 1906 as a law school and in 1999, David j. sergeant hall, 120 Tremont street, became the official home of Suffolk law school.

Located on the first floor of Sargent Hall, Suffolk's book store features a variety of products, including books, athletic aparel, and unique clothing items.

The Thomas M. Joyce Commons is an inviting gathering space for Suffolk law students. off the commons, you'll find Suffolk's Moot Courtrooms, Sawyer Dining Hall, Journals/Honors Boards and the Dean's offices.

Moot Court is a key component of the Suffolk Law education experience. Students present their arguments in one of Suffolk's three moot courtrooms.

MOAKLEY LAW LIBRARY

The 350,000 volumes, online resources, computer stations, and helpful staff of the John Joseph Moakley Law Library occupy the sixth and seventh floors of Sargent Hall.

Sargent Hall hosts multiple events throughout the University, not limited to just the Law School. It has a variety of unique spaces to do so as well like The Cororan Room on the fourth floor and the fifth floor's Blue Sky Lounge.

CITY OF CHAMPIONS

Sargent Hall is on the main route of all of Boston's professional sports teams championship parades. The duck boats drive right by the front doors of Suffolk's Law School.
