Women’s Cross Country Slips to Eighth in the East in USTFCCCA in Regional Ranks

USTFCCCA RELEASE

NEW ORLEANS – Suffolk women's cross country moved down one spot to eighth in the East in the week 6 edition of the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches (USTFCCCA) Regional Poll, the national organization announced.

The Rams dipped down from a program-record seventh, which they held since Week #2 of the 2023 campaign, after its 18th-place finish at the Suffolk Invitational Saturday at the Franklin Park.

For the first time this season, Suffolk was joined by a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) counterpart as Endicott emerged in the ranks in 10th.

The blue-and-gold has been featured in all, but one weekly regional poll by the USTFCCCA since emerging in the regional ranks in the Week 7 edition of the 2021 season.

The USTFCCCA Cross Country Coaches' Rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning teams' strengths with current season results, when applicable, in determining a rank-order by squad potential. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible to receive a ranking. The weekly regional ranking by the USTFCCAC began in 2010.

Suffolk sets its sights on the 2023 CCC Championships, which are on tap for next Saturday, Oct. 28. The Rams look to threepeat as conference champs when they race on the 6k course at Gordon at Wenham, Massachusetts.
