THE DISTANCE
For the first time this season, Suffolk will race a 6k.

THE COMPETITION
According to head coach Will Feldman, "the competition will be the best that Suffolk will face all season," with several national ranked teams including five that are currently ranked in the top 10. Additionally, the field will include nine of the top 10 ranked squads in the North Region, which is one of the strongest in the nation.

COACH'S QUOTE
"This weekend will be the biggest me of the regular season," head coach Will Feldman said. "A top 10 finish would be a huge accomplishment for our program, and our goal for the weekend. With that said, if both teams are solidly in the top 20 we will be proud of that accomplishment."

Feldman continued, "The ultimate goal for both teams is to compete for a birth at Nationals, and to do so we will need to consistently string strong performances at meets like this outside of our region. Building a strong strength of schedule was a big priority this summer, and this weekend will go a long way towards moving up in the East Region, and earning points for a potential at large bid for nationals."

"I'm excited for the athletes making this trip. They've trained extremely hard over the summer and raced themselves into a position where we can take them to a meet like this."

RAMS TO WATCH

  • Graduate student Ellie Davis will continue to build her resume for nationals. A top 30 finish against the field should solidify her as one of the top runners in the East and factor on the national stage.
  • Sophomore Amy Pattelena is ready for a big race and a top 50 finish would springboard her onto the list of national qualifier contenders.
  • Freshman Bailey Ford will make her collegiate debut this weekend, running her first-ever 6k.

REGIONAL RANK
Suffolk women's cross country remains in the seventh spot in the East in the week 3 edition of the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association Regional Rankings, the national organization announced.
