Women’s Cross Country Takes Fifth at Short Course Classic

BOSTON – Suffolk women's cross country pulled the curtain back on its 2022 season with a fifth-place performance at its own Short Course Classic Friday after Franklin Park. 

The Rams combined for 189 points on the 3.1k course to be the top Division III team in the field of 15, which featured Northeastern, Boston University, Brown and Holy Cross, who took spots one through four. 

Individually Ellie Davis and Sydney Fogg paced Suffolk's pack. Davis, the graduate student from Marist made, her debut in blue-and-gold with a 37th-place performance thanks to her time of 12:17.7. Junior Fogg was right on Davis' heels and came through the shoot in 12:18.6 to take 38th. The pair were within the top five Division III runners to finish. 

A group of Rams locked up spots 43rd to 46th in Katelynn Brunt (12:21.9), Skyler Goodman (12:31.1), Amy Pattelena (12:33.5) and Sarah Roberts (12:35.2) 

Christina Baggitt's time of 13:37.2 was good for 69th in the field of 125 competitors and rounded out the Rams' point earners. 

Jocelyn Triscik (14:07.5) and Michelle Riley (16:49.9) represented the Rams as well, while April Banuelos (14:16.6) and Sarah Forrister (16:24.9) made their collegiate debuts on the course as well.  

Suffolk takes next weekend off before traveling to Dartmouth, Massachusetts, Saturday, Sept. 17 for the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
