Manfra Garners Third GNAC Runner of the Week

WINTHROP – Emily Manfra of the Suffolk women's cross country picked up her third GNAC Runner of the Week nod after winning the Suffolk Invitational Saturday, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Manfra cruised by the other 201 runners at Franklin Park to capture the individual crown, her third of the season. Her pace of 6:00 had the senior come through the 5K finisher's chute in 18:39.0, nearly one minute faster than runner-up Karena Garcia of Smith who clocked in at 19:27.7.

The accolade marks the third for the Stoneham, Massachusetts, native this year and sixth of her career. Her three weekly nods in one season are the most for a Ram in a single season since her co-captain Emma Weisse completed the feat a year ago. Overall this season, Suffolk has picked up four league accolades with Marin Stamer garnering best rookie over a seven day stretch Sept. 4.

Manfra and the Rams are back on the course at the 2019 GNAC Championships Saturday, Nov. 2. Suffolk and its conference counterparts converge on Standish, Maine to run for GNAC glory.
