Weisse Named First GNAC Runner of the Week of 2018

BOSTON – Emma Weisse of the Suffolk women's cross country team was tabbed GNAC Runner of the Week after her stand-out performance at the Suffolk Duals, the league office announced Tuesday morning.

In a field of 17 runners from Lasell, Newbury and Suffolk, Weisse, a junior co-captain from Hampden, Massachusetts, came through the 3k-course's finisher's chute in 11:07.2 thanks to a sub, six-minute mile. Her time was 1:45.3 faster than the runner-up, who happened to be her teammate Skyler Spanbauer.

The honor marks the first of the season for Weisse and third overall. She was tabbed the conference's best runner over a seven day stretch by the conference in 2017 as well and also garnered rookie of the week honors in 2016.

Weisse and the Rams will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 15 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
