Women’s Cross Country Names Junior Pair Co-Captains

BOSTON – Will Feldman, the head coach of cross country/track & field, has announced that Suffolk women's cross country juniors Emily Manfra and Emma Weisse will lead the Rams in 2018 as co-captains.

The duo made their names known early and often as they arrived on campus two years ago, becoming the first set of Rams to garner All-GNAC first-team status at the 2016 GNAC Championships. Manfra claimed second overall, just eight seconds behind individual champion to be the first Suffolk women's cross country runner to claim GNAC Rookie of the Year status. Weisse came through the finisher's chute just one second later to take third.

The pair continued their successes as sophomores. Once again Weisse shined at the conference championships with a second-place finish to add another accolade to her resume, becoming the first Ram, either male or female, in the history of the program to garner multiple all-league first-team recognition.

Each of them has competed in back-to-back NCAA Division III Regional Championships and look to do so again this season.

Manfra, Weisse and the Rams are set to get the season underway this Friday, August 31 at the Suffolk Duels in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. The blue-and-gold will take on Lasell and Newbury with the women's heat beginning at 11 a.m. and the men's gun set for an 11:45 a.m. start.
