Women’s Cross Country Wins Raiders Invitational

BOSTON – Seven Rams finished in the top 10 to lift the Suffolk women's cross country team to victory at the Raiders Invitational Friday afternoon on Rivier's campus. 

Reigning GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week Emily Manfra buoyed a Suffolk squad that saw seven of its eight runners finish within the top ten en route to a first-place showing thanks to a total of 18, 47 points ahead of second-place finisher Wheelock. The freshman averaged a 6:30.6 mile to be the first runner through the finisher's chute clocking in at 20:13.8. Emma Weisse cross the tape 0:0.3 seconds after her classmate to take second overall. 

It was all blue-and-gold in places four through seven as the Rams finished one after another. Caitlyn Caramello's time of 22:55.5 put the senior in fourth with Michelle Kearney (22:57.9), Audrey Kopich (23:21.2) and Lily Nelson (24:06.2) following for fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively. 

Madison Veit's took nine at 27:47.2 with Alison Espindola rounding out the Rams runners in 15th at 30:12.1.

Suffolk is set to compete on the GNAC Championship course for the first of three times this season Saturday, Sept. 24 when the Rams race at the Codfish Bowl at Franklin Park in Boston.
