Women’s Cross Country Finishes Sixth at UNE Invitational

BIDDEFORD, Maine  In a field of 14, the Suffolk women's cross country team used a member of every class and was anchored by its first years to earn sixth-place in its season opener, the UNE Invitational at Rotary Park Saturday morning.

Two of the Rams' freshmen who raced Saturday morning finished the 5k course in the top ten. Emily Manfra was the first through the finisher's chute, taking eighth thanks to a time of 20:47.0 with Emma Weisse crossing 11 seconds later for tenth.

Suffolk's veterans, junior Michelle Kearney, senior Caitlyn Caramello and sophomore Audrey Kopich each took spots in the top 50. Kearney finished 40th with a time of 23:59.0 and Caramello's time of 24:06.0 was good for 42. Audrey Kopich was next off the course, finishing in 25:03.0 to come in 46th.

Rookie Madison Veit rounded out the Rams' runners with a time of 28:40 for 61st.

The Rams return to action next weekend as they compete in the Raiders Invitational Saturday, Sept. 17.
