Women’s Cross Country Faces Familiar Foes at USJ Blue Jay Invite

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Suffolk women's cross country team took on a number of familiar talent Saturday morning at the USJ Blue Jay Invitational. The Rams turned in a third-place finish behind the host the University of St. Joseph. 

Sophomore Michelle Kearney led Suffolk's effort with a 19th-place overall finish, turning in a time of 23:54.70. Junior Caitlyn Caramello and freshman Cassandra Johnson also finished in the top-25. Caramello crossed the tape in 24:47.97 for 21st, while Johnson's time of 26:03.75 was good for 24th. 

A trio of Rams finished one after another for 30th through 32nd. Freshman Shannon Alessandroni was Suffolk's fourth finisher, crowing the line in 26:54.50 for 30th overall and senior Karen Diaz placed 31st with a time of 27:28.37. Senior Alyssa Elliot capped the Rams finishers with a time of 27:41.47, good for 32nd. 

The women will race again next weekend as the men's squad joins them at the James Earley Invitational Saturday, Oct. 10.
