Women's Cross-Country Place Ninth in Season Opener

The Suffolk University Women's Cross-Country team opened their 2011 season with a ninth place showing at the Lt. Travis J. Fuller Invitational hosted by Mass. Maritime Academy on Saturday morning. The Rams had seven runners complete the Rams as they finished with a team total of 221 points.

 

Freshman Alexandra Petsuck (Drums, Pa.) was the top Suffolk runner as she finished in the top 10 placements out of the field of 100. Petsuck completed the run in 19:57 as she ran at a 6:26 pace.

Sophomore Bridget Evangelista (Newburyport, Mass.) finished the race in 21:44 as she placed 31st. Freshman Taylor Casey (Westford, Mass.)  23 minutes, freshman Catalina Rufin (Arlington, Mass.) 25:12, sophomore Rachel Allen (Stonington, Conn.) 29:16, sophomore Peggy Chen (Staten Island, N.Y.) 29:16, and Jenisse Ruiz (Roxbury, Mass.) 34:49, all crossed the finish line for Suffolk. 

UMass-Dartmouth had the best team placement as they finished with 32 points.  Molly Rouillard of Bridgewater State University was the top runner with a time of 18:25.

On the men's side only team Suffolk runners finished the race as senior Justin Mark (Dartmouth, Mass.) completed the race in 32:48, while senior Davidson McGuffie (Mattapan, Mass.) crossed the finish line at 40:32.
