BOSTON – The Suffolk volleyball team ships up to Wenham, Massachusetts, Tuesday, Nov. 7 as the fifth-seeded Rams visit the fourth-seed Fighting Scots of Gordon for the CCC First Round. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.

RAMS IN THE POSTSEASON

  • Suffolk ventures into the conference postseason for the 17th time. 
  • The blue-and-gold is the fifth seed for the first time in the CCC Tournament field, third-time overall and first since 2018. 
  • The Rams look to escape the quarterfinals for the second straight season. 
  • Under Scott Blanchard's guidance Suffolk is 3-4 all-time in postseason play with three semifinal appearances 2018, 2019 and 2022. 

RAMS IN THE CCC CROWN CHASE

  • Suffolk will make its third straight trip to the CCC Tournament in as many years in the league.
  • The Rams are the fifth seed in the CCC playoffs for the first time.
  • Suffolk heads out on the road in the CCC postseason for the third time.
  • The Rams have yet to win a road tilt in the CCC postseason. 
  • Suffolk aims to move onto the CCC semifinals for the second straight season. 

LAST TIME OUT
In its regular-season finale, Suffolk women's volleyball dropped a 3-1 decision to Wentworth in Commonwealth Coast Conference play Saturday at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court. In the match, Jayla Martinez etched her name in the Rams' record book as the sixth-ever Ram to handout 1,000 assists.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk wrapped up the regular-season 15-13 overall and 4-4 versus conference counterparts. 

McKenna Keowen's 2.82 kps offensive output powers the Rams' 11.26 kps attack that receives 2.59 kps from Jessica WeberJayla Martinez and Aislinn Lanigan set up the attack with 5.27 assists per set and 3.70 assists per set, respectively. 

Morgan Kelsey's 4.12 dps leads the defensive unit that receives 3.18 dps from Keowen and 0.85 bps by Sami Shore

FIGHTING SCOTS FACTS
Gordon compiled a 14-11 overall record in the regular-season and went 5-3 in CCC play. 

Joey Keltner (3.18 kps) and Annie Murphy (3.13 kps) produced over 3.00 kps to power the Fighting Scots' 11.07 kps attack. Kate Howe sets up the attack with 8.36 assists per set. 

Defensively, Nikki Batson leads the way with 2.93 dps. Keltner chips in 2.33 dps and Howe pitches in 2.09 dps. At the net, Annie Murphy supplies 0.73 bps

WE MEET AGAIN
Suffolk volleyball was handed its first CCC loss of the year as Gordon swept the Rams Saturday morning at Smith Court. The Dig Pink loss came via set scores 25-23, 25-20 and 25-20.

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • The Rams trail the all-time series, 2-11, and have fallen in nine straight against the Fighting Scots.
  • Both of the blue-and-gold's victories over Gordon came in straight sets in 2010 and 2013, respectively. 
  • Eight matches have been decided in sweeps. Suffolk is 2-6 in such decisions. 
  • Three battles went the distance. The Fighting Scots have won the trio of 3-2 outcomes including the 2022 CCC Semifinals. 
  • Suffolk and Gordon went to four sets twice. The Fighting Scots have won both 3-1 matches. 
  • The Rams are 0-6 against Gordon in the Scott Blanchard era. 
  • Suffolk is in search of its third victory over the Fighting Scots, first since a 3-0-win Oct. 17, 2013.
