CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL | 2023 CCC WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL BRACKET
BEVERLY, Mass. – Suffolk volleyball garnered the fifth seed in the upcoming 2023 Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament as announced in the official tournament bracket released by the league office over the weekend.
The Rams went 4-4 versus CCC counterparts and 15-13 overall to land fifth. It is the first time in Suffolk's history that it will be the fifth seed in the CCC Tournament field, third--time overall in the blue-and-gold's history it earned the fifth seed in a conference postseason and first since 2018.
Suffolk is set to travel to Wenham, Massachusetts, Tuesday, Nov. 7 for the first round against fourth seed Gordon. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at the Bennett Center.
Gordon assembled a 14-11 overall record and went 5-3 in league play. The Fighting Scots landed in a tie with Western New England, however, the Golden Bears earned the edge due to its 3-1 victory over Gordon Oct. 28.
In the 2023 regular-season, Suffolk was swept by the Fighting Scots, Oct. 14. The Rams and Gordon have met in the postseason once, the 2022 CCC Semifinals. The Rams fought, but ultimately fell to the Fighting Scots in five sets.
Suffolk's third-ever CCC tourney appearance marks the Rams 17th playoff trip. The blue-and-gold has advanced to the semifinals three times, including last season's semifinal run. All of Suffolk's semifinal runs have come under Scott Blanchard's guidance. Overall, the Rams are 3-4 in the Blanchard era in the postseason including a 1-2 CCC Tournament ledger.
The winner of Tuesday's tilt earns its sport in the semifinals Thursday, Nov. 9 at No. 1 Wentworth at 6 p.m.
