BOSTON – Suffolk volleyball's third and final home tri-match of the 2023 season is on tap Saturday, Oct. 14 with Gordon and Fisher set to stop by Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court. The Rams will face their CCC foe the Fighting Scots first at 11 a.m., before battling the Falcons at 3 p.m. Both contests will serve as the blue-and-gold's Dig Pink contests to bring awareness to Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

DIG PINK
Join Suffolk volleyball in the fight against Breast Cancer Saturday, Oct. 14.  

All fans are encouraged to wear pink to support the cause. Donations will be collected online here and benefit Susan G. Komen, a breast cancer organization that addresses the disease on multiple fronts to make the biggest impact it can.  

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk volleyball remained unbeaten in Commonwealth Coast Conference action as the Rams powered past Western New England, 3-1, Wednesday night at the Alumni Healthful Living Center. The four-set league victory came via set scores 25-14, 25-27, 25-16 and 25-22.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk rides a two-match win streak into Saturday. The Rams are unbeaten, 3-0, in CCC clashes and 12-7 overall.  

McKenna Keowen factors into Suffolk's offense and defense with a team-best 2.60 kps and 3.25 dps, good for second on the squad. Jessica Weber adds 2.54 kps to the offense that is set up by Jayla Martinez (4.95 aps) and Aislinn Lanigan (3.75 aps). 

Morgan Kelsey, who contributes 0.69 aces per set to the offense, leads the defense with 4.29 dps. In addition to Keowen and Kelsey, Tatum Kalt and Sami Shore are consistent contributors to the defense with 2.75 dps and 0.75 bps, respectively. 

FIGHTING SCOT FACTS

Gordon has fall in five straight to head to Boston 9-7 overall and 1-1 in CCC contests. 

Annie Murphy and Joey Keltner average over 3.00 kps each with 3.28 kps and 3.11 kps, respectively. Kate Howe takes on the bulk of the setter role with 8.28 aps, while Olivia Fleming adds 5.14 aps. Annie Zimmerman is a threat from the service line with 0.63 aces per set.  

Defensively, Nikki Batson's 2.83 dps leads the way. Keltner chips in 2.29 dps and Murphy (0.69 bps) and Zimmerman (0.63 bps) are forces at the net.  

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • The Rams trail the all-time series, 2-10, and have fallen in eight straight against the Fighting Scots. 
  • Both of the blue-and-gold's victories over Gordon came in straight sets in 2010 and 2013, respectively. 
  • Seven matches have been decided in sweeps. Suffolk is 2-5 in such decisions.
  • Three battles went the distance. The Fighting Scots have won the trio of 3-2 outcomes.
  • Suffolk and Gordon went to four sets twice. The Fighting Scots have won both 3-1 matches. 
  • The Rams are 0-5 against Gordon in the Scott Blanchard era. 
  • Suffolk is in search of its third victory over the Fighting Scots, first since a 3-0 win Oct. 17, 2013.

Fisher has been swept in five straight matches to bring a 9-14 overall mark into Saturday's action.  

Alicia Tkach is the top offensive threat with 2.41 kps. Paola Velazquez sets up the Falcons' 7.77 kps attack with 5.52 assists per set. Edsyl Irizarry anchors the defense with 5.56 dps.
