BOSTON – Suffolk volleyball steps away from Commonwealth Coast Conference competition Tuesday, Sept. 26 when it entertains Southern Maine at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court at 7 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk volleyball pulled the curtain back on its Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) calendar in thrilling fashion as the Rams rallied back from a 2-0 deficit to take down Nichols, 3-2, Saturday afternoon at the Nichols Athletic Center. The five-set triumph came via set scores 23-25, 21-25, 25-7, 25-19 and 15-13.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk improved to 7-6 on the season Saturday after defeating Nichols in five sets.  

McKenna Keowen powers the Rams 10.51 kills per set offense with 2.41 kps. Jessica Weber and Sami Shore are consistent contributors to the attack as well with 2.20 kps and 1.71 kps, respectively. Jayla Martinez (4.52 aps) and Aislinn Lanigan (3.44 aps) set up Suffolk's offense that receives 0.69 aces per set from Morgan Kelsey. 

Kelsey's 4.20 dps leads the defense. Keowen (2.95 dps), Tatum Kalt (2.44 dps) and Shore (0.76 bps) add to the defensive effort as well.   

HAVE TO KNOW 'BOUT THE HUSKIES
Southern Maine returned to the win column Saturday when it bested Fitchburg State in four sets to move to 4-8 on the year.  

Brianna Delloiacono's 2.34 kps anchors the Huskies 8.13 kps offense that receives 1.58 kps from Isabella Smith and 1.46 kps by Drew Johnson. Cassidy Weiher is the primary setter with 5.31 assists per set with Mia Mantini supplying 3.08 assists per set. Laura Perreault is a threat from the service line with 1.33 aces per set.  

Sierra Castonguay's 3.73 dps leads the defense. Smith adds 2.92 dps and Delloiacono pitches in 2.50 dps. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

• Suffolk defeated Southern Maine for the first time in program history a year ago with a 3-0 win over USM Sept. 17, 2022. 
• Overall, Suffolk is 1-3 all-time against Southern Maine. 
• In the Scott Blanchard era, the Rams are 1-1 versus USM. 
• The Rams are 0-1 as the home team against USM and will host the Huskies for the first time since Oct. 23, 2018. 
• On the road, Suffolk sits 1-0. 
• Two matches have taken place at a neutral site. The Rams are 0-2 in such instances.
• Three matches between Suffolk and USM have been decided in straight sets. The Rams are 1-2 in such outings.
