BOSTON – Suffolk volleyball is back in Boston Tuesday, Sept. 5 after its season-opening trip to Sandusky, Ohio and the Rams are wasting little time before getting back to action as they entertain No. 10 MIT in the home debut Tuesday, Sept. 5. The match is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk volleyball wrapped up its time at the Great Lakes Cross Over Tournament with a four-set setback to the host Heidelberg Saturday. The 3-1 defeat came via set scores 15-25, 25-10, 25-21 and 25-17.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk went 1-3 at the Great Lakes Cross Over Labor Day weekend. The Rams only win came in straight set fashion over Trine.  

McKenna Keowen's 2.38 kills per set anchors Suffolk's 9.64 kills per set, which is set-up by Jayla Martinez (3.43 assists per set) and Aislinn Lanigan (3.07 assists per set). The Rams are serving up 2.64 aces per set with Keowen's 0.77 aces per set leading the way.  

Morgan Kelsey's 4.14 digs per set paces Suffolk's defensive unit that has received seven blocks from Sami Shoreand five by Grace Cervenka.

EYES ON THE ENGINEERS
MIT, who is ranked 10th in the latest AVCA Colleges Poll, swept its three matches at the Gordon College Tournament Sept. 1-2 to remain unbeaten (3-0) in 2023 thus far.  

Lauren Keller and Ella Gragg lead MIT's offensive attack with 1.89 kps and 1.83 kps, respectively. Emily Cheng (6.00 assists per set) and Kayleigh May (4.50 assists per set) share the setting role for the Engineers.  

Ottavia Personeni's 3.11 digs per set leads MIT's defense. Cheng pitches 2.14 digs per set to the effort. Consecrata Rozario adds 0.50 blocks per set at the net.  

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • The Suffolk, MIT series dates back to 1999. 
  • The Rams trail the all-time series 0-4.

Suffolk has its first tri-match on the schedule this weekend as the Rams head to Weston, Massachusetts, where it will take on UMass Dartmouth at Regis. The blue-and-gold begin play Saturday, Sept. 9 at 11 a.m. versus the Pride before challenging the Corsairs at 1 p.m.
