Trio to Captain Volleyball in 2023

BOSTON – For the second straight season, Suffolk volleyball will be led by a threesome as upperclassmen Jasmine JamesMcKenna Keowen, and Emily Wheeler will share the leadership role as tri-captains for the 2023 campaign, head coach Scott Blanchard announced.

Wheeler begins her second term in the role after earning the title a year ago, while James and Keowen earned the title for the first time in their collegiate careers.

James, a senior from Norwood, Massachusetts, saw time in all 30 matches in 2022. The outside hitter supplied 1.74 kill per set to the Rams' 11.26 kills per set attack.

Keowen, a two-time all-conference performer, contributed on both sides of the net last season. The outside hitter, who calls xxx home, sat second on the squad with 3.17 kills per set and added 2.26 digs per set. She was a threat at the service line as well with 39 aces.

Wheeler averaged added 0.61 kills per set as a sophomore. A Hampton, New Hampshire native, the outside hitter will continue to factor into Suffolk's success this season as well.

Suffolk will get the 2023 schedule started in Sandusky, Ohio for the Great Lakes Crossover. Over Labor Day weekend the Rams will face Hiram, Trine, Baldwin Wallace and Heidelberg.
