THE BASIC
SCORE: Suffolk 3 | Union 0
RECORDS: Suffolk (12-5) | Union (8-8)

SET ONE RECAP (25-18, SUFFOLK)

  • The teams traded three points to keep things even early, 3-all.
  • The score leveled once more at 4-all, before a back-and-forth affair ensued.
  • Jess Weber and Isabelle Huzar partnered up for a block that sparked a 4-0 Rams run that gave the host a 14-6 cushion.
  • The edge grew to double digits, 18-8, when Weber put away a kill.
  • Union outscored Suffolk, 7-1, to cut away at the game and make it a 19-15 frame.
  • Composure seemed to come for the Rams out of their own timeout as they paired back-to-back points to double the distance.
  • The Dutchwomen responded with four straight points of their own to keep things interesting, 22-18.
  • Huzar hit her second kill of the set to spark a set-closing 3-0 run by the Rams.

SET TWO RECAP (25-20, SUFFOLK)

  • From a 2-all time, Suffolk slowly built a 10-6 lead.
  • Five unanswered points from the host grew the advantage to 18-10.
  • Similar to the opening set, the Dutchwomen made a late comeback play and sliced the gap down to three, 21-18.
  • Suffolk used a timeout to calm down. Instead the teams traded points the rest of the way until set point was given to the Rams on an attack error by the visitors.

SET THREE RECAP (25-21, SUFFOLK)

  • The third frame was the closet yet with five lead exchanges and ten tied scores.
  • A service error by Unions' Rosalind Lampert gave the Rams an upper hand that it never let go of.
  • That service mishap allowed Suffolk to surge ahead 18-15 when Jayla Martinez logged an ace.
  • A Union timeout did not hurt the host as they rolled three points together to stretch the edge to fie, 21-16. That 3-0 Suffolk spurt featured kills from Grace Cervenka and Weber and an ace from McKenna Keowen
  • Once again, the Dutchwomen cut things down to three, 23-20, which caused Scott Blanchard to call his team over to talk things through.
  • Union scored the first point out of the break, but the Rams took care of business from there with kills from Weber and Keowen.

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Weber led the attack with 11 kills on a .267 swinging clip to go along with two blocks and two digs.
