BOSTON – Suffolk volleyball will put on its first home tri-match of the season Saturday, Sept. 24 with Endicott and UMass Boston headed to Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court. The Rams and Gulls get the action going with a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) clash at 11:00 a.m., with the Beantown battle between the blue-and-gold and Beacons concluding the day at 3:00 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk volleyball took Framingham State the distance, but could not hang on for the victory in the long run as the visiting Rams outlasted the Boston Rams in a five-set thriller Thursday night at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court. The setback came by set scores 25-17, 25-18, 23-25, 23-25 and 15-13.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk looks to snap a two-match skid that put the Rams at 8-4 on the year and 0-1 against CCC competition.  

The blue-and-gold's 11.20 kps attack is paced by McKenna Keowen's 3.37 kps. Grace Cervenka adds 2.41 kps to the offense, which is set-up by Harmony Johnson (7.22 aps) and Jayla Martinez (4.46 aps). As a team, Suffolk is a threat at the service line with 4.05 aces per set led by Morgan Kelsey's 1.41. 

Kenzley Bell registers 4.24 dps with Tatum Kalt (2.06 dps), Kelsey (2.00 dps) and Keowen (2.00 dps) consistent contributors to the defense. Jasmine James (0.51 bps), Cervenka (0.51 bps) and Alina Nowakowski (0.50 bps) are consistent contributors at the net for the Rams. 

GET TO KNOW THE GULLS
Endicott (5-3) opened the year with five wins in a row, but has fallen in three in a row. The Gulls will get their CCC calendar going on Saturday.  

Amanda Gilbert is powerful on both sides of the net with a team-best 3.15 kps and 2.63 dps, good for second on the squad. Krystina Schueler (2.15 kps) and Kelsey Sanborn (2.00 kps) supply over 2.00 kps. Both Ella Koelb (4.36 aps) and Lauren McGrath (4.23 aps) serve as the Gulls setters.  

Emma Ruel's 3.26 dps leads the defense. Stephanie Moreau (1.10 bps) and Collen McAvoy (1.00 bps) are threats at the net. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk has yet to take down Endicott, 0-5. 
  • The Rams and Gulls last met a year ago, Sept. 25, 2021. That outing was decided in four sets. That is the only four-set contest between Suffolk and Endicott. 
  • A match between Suffolk and Endicott has never taken place in Boston. 
  • All five matches in the series have been played in Beverly, Massachusetts. 
  • The first four outings were decided in straight sets (0-4).

BEACONS BREAKDOWN
UMass Boston has fallen in five in a row to hold a 2-9 season ledger.  

Taryn Broughai's 2.31 kps leads the Beacons attack. Livia Trindade provides 1.79 kps and McKayla Geraghty adds 1.53 kps. Amelia Devlin and Melina Sullivan split time as UMB's setting with 4.21 aps and 3.06 aps, respectively.  

Boston's defense receives 3.9 dps from Ally Dean, 0.66 bps by Broughai and 1.72 dps from Geraghty. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk snapped a five-match skid against UMass Boston a year ago with a straight set win over the Beacons, Sept. 14, 2021, to move to 3-7 all-time in the series. 
  • The Rams won a match at UMB for the first time in program history. Suffolk is 1-4 when playing the Beacons on the road. 
  • Two of Suffolk's three victories have come with the Rams as the home team. The blue-and-gold is 2-2 when hosting UMass Boston. 
  • Eight matches have been decided in straight sets. Suffolk is 2-6 in sweeps versus the Beacons. 
  • A pair of outings have been determined in four sets. The Rams are 1-1 in 3-1 decisions against UMass Boston. 
  • Suffolk and UMass Boston have never gone to five sets.
