Volleyball Sweeps Tri-Match at Mitchell with SUNY Cobleskill

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Suffolk volleyball put together back-to-back straight set victories as the Rams swept SUNY Cobleskill and Mitchell Saturday after the Yarnell Athletic Center. The blue-and-gold took down the Fighting Tigers, 25-20, 25-13 and 25-15, before defeating the Mariners, 25-16, 25-19 and 25-18.

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Grace Cervenka paced Suffolk's attack in both outings. To open the day, she registered 14 kills on a .520 attack percentage to go along with two digs and two blocks. 
  • Alina Nowakowski tallied eight kills and one block to the first victory and seven kills, one dig and one block in the nightcap. 
  • Chloe Clement supplied eight kills in the first match and five in the second. 
  • Harmony Johnson and Jayla Martinez split time as Suffolk's setter in both outings. 
  • Kenzley Bell was the backbone of the defense.  

NOTEWORTHY

  • Suffolk met SUNY Cobleskill for the first time in program history. 
  • The Rams remain unbeaten, 3-0, against Mitchell, including a 2-0 ledger under Scott Blanchard
  • The Blue-and-gold battled at Mitchell in New London, Connecticut for the first time. 
  • Two of Suffolk's three wins over the Mariners have come via 3-0 decisions.

Suffolk starts its home schedule Monday, Sept. 12 when it welcomes Lesley to Smith Court for a 7 p.m. match that will serve as the Rams' Suicide Awareness match.
