Keowen, Weber Grab CCC Weekly Awards

CCC RELEASE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Weekly recognition came in for Suffolk volleyball's McKenna Keowen and Jess Weber for their effort at the ENC Invitational. Keowen was named CCC Player of the Week, while Weber took home CCC Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.

The pair helped Suffolk a 2-1 start for the second straight season with straight set wins over Wellsley and UMaine Presque Isle.

Keowen, an outside hitter from Ramon, California, averaged 3.63 kills, 2.63 digs and 4.2 points per set over the weekend. In a season-opening sweep of the Blue, she barely missed a double-double with 10 kills and nine digs. A day later, she was a dig shy of a double-double again with a 13-kill, nine-dig effort in a 3-0 setback to invite host Eastern Nazarene Eastern. The sophomore closed the weekend with six kills and three digs in a sweep of the Owls.

In her first collegiate action, Weber averaged 3.75 kills per set on a .328 attack percentage. The sophomore that calls Miami, Florida home, began her collegiate career with 13 kills against Wellesley. Against the Lions she recorded eight kills and concluded the weekend's action with nine kills versus UMPI. Throughout the tournament she totaled 30 kills en route to a spot on the ENC Invitational All-Tournament Team.

Weber is the first Ram to be tabbed CCC Rookie of the Week this season and first since Keowen threepeated the honor Nov. 1, 2021. Keowen, meanwhile, was tabbed the conference's best player over a seven-day stretch for the second time in her career, first since Sept. 20, 2021. She is the only Ram to garner CCC Player of the Week in program history.

Suffolk is back in action tonight, Tuesday, Sept. 6 at MIT at 6 p.m.
