BOSTON – Suffolk volleyball caps off a five-match road trip at the University of New England Tuesday, Oct. 19. The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) contest is set to start at 7 p.m.

SUFFOLK ATHLETICS 2021-22 FAN POLICY
Suffolk University Athletics, following guidance from the University's health and safety protocols, Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), Centers for Disease Control and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, plans to allow fans to attend home athletic contests during the 2021-22 academic and athletic year.

Fans, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, can attend games. They must be masked the entire time they are on campus, pursuant to institutional policy, and complete a health screening form at the security desk of each building upon arrival. This policy applies to home contests played on campus at the Ridgeway Building's Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court, as well as the Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink and the Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

For outdoor outings, specifically at East Boston Memorial Park, fans are asked to respect COVID safety protocols. At this time, masks will not be mandated for fans no matter vaccinated status at outdoor venues.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk volleyball forced Colby to go the distance to take Colby the distance, but could not complete the came as the Mules handled matters in the deciding frame to take the 3-2 win over the Rams Saturday afternoon at Browne & Plofker Gym. The setback came by set scores 25-20, 25-16, 24-26, 24-26 and 15-10.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk picked up its first CCC victory last week, a straight set win at Western New England, before falling in a non-conference tri-match to Emerson (3-0) and Colby (3-2) to move to 7-13 on the year and 1-4 in CCC play. 

McKenna Keowen continues to pace the Rams' offense with 3.24 kps behind a .225 attack percentage. Jasmine James is on the verge of 2.00 kps with 1.90 kps to her credit. Harmony Johnson and Jayla Martinez continue to split time as Suffolk's setter with 4.90 aps and 3.83 aps, respectively. Morgan Kelsey has been a threat at the service line for the Rams with 0.95 aces per set. 

Defensively, Kenzley Bell's 3.73 dps leads the way. Kelsey (2.77 dps), Keowen (2.40 dps) and Alina Nowakowski (0.66 bps) are consistent contributors to the blue-and-gold's defensive unit as well.

NOR'EASTER NOTES
UNE (8-12) split non-conference action Saturday, Oct. 16 with win over Rhode Island College and a setback to Southern Maine, both by 3-1 margins. Conference wise, the Nor'Easters have fallen in back-to-back CCC clashes to holds a 1-4 league ledger. 

Lauren Davenport's 3.26 kps powers the points for the University of New England. Viktoria Pavlyuk supplies 2.76 kps to the offense, which is set up by Addie Miller's 8.28 aps. 

Paige Weatherbee is the key component to the Nor'Easters' defense with 4.39 dps. Victoria Boutin adds 2.49 dps and Stephanie Erickson's 0.54 bps leads the way at the net.

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk will meet UNE for the third time in program history, first since 2018.
  • The Rams have yet to beat the Nor'Easters, 0-2.
  • Both outings between the blue-and-gold and UNE have been determined in straight sets.
  • Suffolk will play a true road game against the Nor'Easters for the first time as the previous two outings have taken place on neutral hardwood.
