BOSTON – Suffolk women's volleyball will be back at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court Tuesday, Oct. 5 for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) tilt against Beantown foe Wentworth. First serve is set for 7 p.m.

SUFFOLK ATHLETICS 2021-22 FAN POLICY
Suffolk University Athletics, following guidance from the University's health and safety protocols, Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), Centers for Disease Control and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, plans to allow fans to attend home athletic contests during the 2021-22 academic and athletic year.

Fans, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, can attend games. They must be masked the entire time they are on campus, pursuant to institutional policy, and complete a health screening form at the security desk of each building upon arrival. This policy applies to home contests played on campus at the Ridgeway Building's Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court, as well as the Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink and the Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

For outdoor outings, specifically at East Boston Memorial Park, fans are asked to respect COVID safety protocols. At this time, masks will not be mandated for fans no matter vaccinated status at outdoor venues.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk women's volleyball won the first two sets, but could not hold off a comeback from the Bison as Nichols won the third and fourth sets, to force a fifth, which it won to take the 3-2 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) contest Thursday night at the Nichols Athletic Center. The league setback came by set scores 17-25, 20-25, 25-21, 25-23 and 15-11.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk is on a four-match skid that put the Rams at 5-9 on the season and 0-3 in CCC contests.  

The Rams have relied on McKenna Keowen on both sides of the net. The freshman leads the team's 9.82 kps attack with 2.94 kps of her own and supplies 2.50 dps to the defense. Jasmine James and Julia Leavey add 1.96 kps and 1.58 kps, respectively, to the offense, which is set up by the duo of Harmony Johnson (4.91 aps) and Jayla Martinez(3.98 aps).  

Morgan Kelsey paces the defense with 3.15 dps. Kenzley Bell chips in 2.82 dps and Alina Nowakowski's 0.68 bps paces the blue-and-gold at the net. 

LEOPARDS LOOK
Wentworth split a non-conference tri-match at Framingham State (W, 3-1) featuring Wheaton (L, 3-0) to move to 11-7 on the year. In conference contests, the Leopards are 3-1. 

Rily Waggoner's 2.44 kps anchors WIT's 10.57 kps attack, which is set up by three student-athletes in Ashley Cao (4.06 aps), Lexi Zabloudil (3.56 aps) and Jordan Chapman (3.50 aps).

Megan Davis' 3.23 dps anchors the defense that receives 2.33 dps from Sydney Brooke and 0.53 bps by Lauren Ediston. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk sits 6-12 all-time versus Wentworth. 
  • The Leopards have won the last 10 meetings against the Rams, including four straight matches in straight sets. 
  • Suffolk is 4-5 versus WIT at home and 2-7 against the Leopards on the road. 
  • In sweeps, the Rams are 2-9 versus WIT. 
  • Suffolk is favored in four set matches with a 4-3 showing in 3-1 decisions versus Wentworth.  
  • The Rams and Leopards have never needed five sets to determine a winner.
