Suffolk volleyball begins a three-match homestand Thursday, Sept. 14 when it entertains Lasell at the Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court at 7:00 p.m.

SUFFOLK ATHLETICS 2021-22 FAN POLICY
Suffolk University Athletics, following guidance from the University's health and safety protocols, Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), Centers for Disease Control and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, plans to allow fans to attend home athletic contests during the 2021-22 academic and athletic year.

Fans, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, can attend games. They must be masked the entire time they are on campus, pursuant to institutional policy, and complete a health screening form at the security desk of each building upon arrival. This policy applies to home contests played on campus at the Ridgeway Building's Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court, as well as the Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink and the Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

For outdoor outings, specifically at East Boston Memorial Park, fans are asked to respect COVID safety protocols. At this time, masks will not be mandated for fans no matter vaccinated status at outdoor venues.

VOLLEY FOR A CURE
Suffolk women's volleyball has dedicated its Saturday, Sept. 18 showdown against Eastern Nazarene as a volley for a cure event to benefit the Jimmy Fund.

RESIDENT RAM DAY
Suffolk Athletics will host promotions, giveaways and special events throughout the 2021-22 year with the first on the calendar on Saturday, Sept. 18.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk proved to be the better volleyball team on Boston's Red Line as the Rams swept the Beacons of UMass Boston Tuesday night at the Clark Athletic Center.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk moved to 4-5 on the year after sweeping UMass Boston Tuesday. 

The Rams are producing 9.34 kps as a team with McKenna Keowen (2.34) and Jasmine James (2.28) each average over 2.00 kps. Harmony Johnson and Jayla Martinez split time as Suffolk's setter handing out 6.00 aps and 4.73 aps, respectively. Morgan Kelsey has proven to be a threat at the service line with 1.00 aces per set.

Kesley paces the blue-and-gold's defense as well with 3.48 dps. Keowen contributes 2.69 dps and Alina Nowakowski adds 0.48 bps.

LOOK AT THE LASERS
Lasell heads into the week 1-2 on the season and will play at Curry Wednesday, Sept. 15 prior to visiting Suffolk. 

Tori Scambray is one of the top threats offensively and defensively. The freshman outside hitter boasts a team-best 3.08 dps and sits second on the squad with 2.23 kps. Sabine Milton anchors the Lasers' 9.31 kps with 2.54 kps of her own. Jess Langan (4.85 aps) and Emily Cersasani (3.22 aps) share setting duties.

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk has put together back-to-back wins over Lasell to move to 10-13 all-time against the Lasers.
  • The blue-and-gold handled the early goings of the series, which dates back to 1996, with six victoriesm from 1996-1999.
  • Since 2007, the Rams are 2-12 against Lasell.
  • Suffolk is 2-1 against Lasell under Scott Blanchard's guidance.
  • More than half of the 23 meetings have been decided in a sweep. Suffolk is 4-11 in such outings.  
  • Six contests have needed four sets. The Rams have claimed 66 percent (4-6) of those matches.
  • Suffolk and Lasell went the distance twice. The Rams prevailed in each 3-2 decision, which includes the last meeting between the usual foes, Sept. 14, 2019.
  • The Rams and Lasers have met in Boston nine times. Suffolk is 5-4 versus Lasell on its home hardwood. The last time the blue-and-gold defeated the Lasers in Beantown was in 2002.
  • When broken down, Suffolk's home record against Lasell features four straight set (1-3) and four-set (3-1) matches and two five-set thrillers (2-0).
