BOSTON – Suffolk volleyball has returned from upstate New York and is in store for a cross city match as the Rams make the short trip to UMass Boston Tuesday, Sept. 14. First serve across town is on tap for 7:00 p.m.

SUFFOLK ATHLETICS 2021-22 FAN POLICY
Suffolk University Athletics, following guidance from the University's health and safety protocols, Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), Centers for Disease Control and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, plans to allow fans to attend home athletic contests during the 2021-22 academic and athletic year.

Fans, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, can attend games. They must be masked the entire time they are on campus, pursuant to institutional policy, and complete a health screening form at the security desk of each building upon arrival. This policy applies to home contests played on campus at the Ridgeway Building's Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court, as well as the Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink and the Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

For outdoor outings, specifically at East Boston Memorial Park, fans are asked to respect COVID safety protocols. At this time, masks will not be mandated for fans no matter vaccinated status at outdoor venues.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk volleyball won the first set, but Williams stormed back to take the next three to hand the Rams a 3-1 loss in their final outing at the Union Invitational Saturday afternoon at the Viniar Athletic Center. The match was decided by set scores 23-25, 25-18, 25-15 and 25-14.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk went 1-3 at the Union Invitational to dip to 3-5 on the year.  

McKenna Keowen and Jasmine James anchor the Rams' 9.19 kps offense. The former leads the way with 2.46 kps with the latter adding 2.08 kps. Gabby Elbrecht (6.00 aps), Harmony Johnson (4.47 aps) and Jayla Martinez (3.88 aps) have split time setting up the blue-and-gold's offense, which receives 0.92 aces per set from Morgan Kelsey

Kesley is the Rams' defensive leader with 3.04 dps. Keowen adds 2.54 dps and Alina Nowakowski contributes 0.46 bps. 

BEACONS BREAKDOWN
UMass Boston split a tri-match with Salve Regina and Bates Sept. 11 to move to 3-4 on the year. The Beacons fell to Salve Regina in straight sets before sweeping Bates.  

Emilia Czapiewska's 3.10 kps leads the Beacons attack. Aleks Qose provides 2.17 kps and Marcelle Tiscareno adds 2.13 kps. Carsen Komminsk has held down the setting role with 7.26 aps. Toni Guerra and Komminsk are threats at the service line with 0.77 aces per set and 0.70 aces per set, respectively. 

Boston's defense received 3.14 dps from Alyssa Ruan, 0.70 bps from Taryn Broughai and 1.75 dps by Czapiewska. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk is 2-7 all-time versus UMass Boston. 
  • The two teams last met Sept. 10, 2016. The Beacons swept the Rams in that meeting. 
  • The Rams look to snap a five-match skid versus the Beacons.
