SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Springfield, who is receiving votes in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Coaches' Poll, handed the Suffolk volleyball team a 3-0 loss by set scores of 25-21, 25-14, and 25-20, in the Rams' second match of the Union Invitational Friday night at the Viniar Athletic Center.
THE BASICS

SET ONE RECAP (25-21, SPRINGFIELD)
- Out of a 4-4 set, Suffolk outscored Springfield 6-1 to jump ahead 10-5 and force the Pride to use a timeout.
- Tatum Kalt served an ace out of the huddle to keep momentum on the blue-and-gold's side.
- The Rams remained in control at 18-12 as the team's traded points
- Springfield sprang into action to make things interesting as it scored three points to the Rams' 1 to pull within one, 19-18.
- An attack error by the Pride's Natalie Billet pushed the gap back to a pair, but not for long as Springfield responded with back-to-back points of its own to lock things at 20-all.
- A Pride service error ensued out of the huddle, but Springfield rattled off the three consecutive points to complete the comeback.
SET TWO RECAP (25-15, SPRINGFIELD)
- Springfield jumped ahead to a 7-3 advantage that bloomed to a 15-7 cushion at the midway point.
- That distance proved to be too much for the blue-and-gold to make up as each team would score the eight apiece the rest of the way.
SET THREE RECAP (25-20, SPRINGFIELD)
- It was a tightly contested affair throughout as the scored tied four times and the lead was exchanged twice.
- The Pride pulled ahead 8-7 and never relinquished the lead despite Suffolk trying to catch up on multiple occasions.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- McKenna Keowen led Suffolk's 20-kill attack with five kills to her credit to go along with five digs.
- Jasmine James and Julia Leavey each had three kills.
- Morgan Kelsey supplied a team-high 11 digs and three aces.
- Harmony Johnson and Jayla Martinez both dished out seven assists.
NOTEWORTHY
- Suffolk and Springfield renewed a rivalry, meeting for the first time since 2006.
- The Rams and Pride tangled on a neutral court for the third time.
- All six matches between Suffolk and Springfield have been decided in straight sets.
