BOSTON – The fourth-seeded Suffolk volleyball team will host the GNAC Quarterfinals for the second time in program history Tuesday, Nov. 5 when the Rams welcome fifth-seeded Colby Sawyer to the Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court. First serve of the conference tournament match is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Quarterfinals - Tuesday, Nov. 5
MATCH 1: #8 Lasell at #1 Johnson & Wales – 7:30 p.m. 
MATCH 2: #5 Colby Sawyer at #4 Suffolk – 7:00 p.m. 
MATCH 3: #6 Norwich at #3 Rivier – 7:00 p.m. 
MATCH 4: #7 Saint Joseph's (Maine) at #2 Simmons – 7:00 p.m.  

Semifinals – Thursday, Nov. 7 (to be played at highest remaining seeds)

RAMS IN THE GNAC TOURNAMENT

  • Suffolk makes its 14th trip the GNAC post-season, fourth straight. 
  • The Rams are the fourth seed for the second time in program history, first since 2005. The fourth spot in the field ties the highest for the blue-and-gold in program history. 
  • Suffolk will hosts its second tournament outing in program history, first since 2005. 
  • The Rams and Colby Sawyer will meet for the first time in the league playoffs. 
  • Suffolk looks to advance to the conference semifinals for the second straight season and second time overall. 

LAST TIME OUT
The 2019 Suffolk volleyball team secured its spot a top of the Rams' all-time wins list as the blue-and-gold put together a thrilling five-set decision over Saint Joseph's (Maine) Saturday afternoon at the Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court. The historic regular-season triumph came via set scores 29-27, 25-15, 21-25, 21-25 and 15-11.

RAMS REVIEW
Suffolk put together the winningest regular-season in program history Saturday afternoon after splitting its final GNAC tri-match of the year with a 3-0 loss to Simmons followed by a 3-2 victory over Saint Joseph's (Maine) to improve to 19-11 overall. The five-set thriller against the Monks pushed the Rams to 9-3 against conference competition, which marks the most league wins in a single-season for the blue-and-gold as well.  

Hannah Fabiano (2.86 kps) and Kayla Barbera (2.38 kps) both produce over 2.00 kps to anchor Suffolk's 10.36 kps offense, which is set up by Harmony Johnson's 8.16 aps.  

Dakhensey Marcellus and Kenzley Bell are the dynamic defensive duo for the Rams with the former's 3.72 dps leading the way and the latter adding 3.55 dps. Stephanie Rheaume's 0.53 bps leads the way at the net with Sarah Mullahy chipping in 0.45 bps. 

CHARGERS CATCH UP
Colby Sawyer put an exclamation point on its regular-season, that finished 17-17 overall, with a 3-2 win over Norwich to edge out the Cadets for the fifth seed behind a 7-5 league ledger.  

Naarah Cox is the Chargers' offensive leader with 2.67 kps to her credit with Sam Mohammed (2.12 kps) and Rebecca Straubel (1.83 kps) serving as consistent contributors on the attack as well. Anna Allen has held down setting duties for CSC, dishing out 7.42 aps. 

Defensively, Morgan Flynn's 4.07 dps pace the pack with Allen chipping in 2.67 dps and Cox Pitching in 0.68 bps. 

WE MEET AGAIN
Suffolk volleyball did what no team has done before, bested Colby Sawyer, to run its win streak to five straight Oct. 5. The 3-1 victory came when the Rams wrapped up a GNAC tri-match at the Hogan Sports Center via set scores 25-13, 25-19, 23-25 and 25-15.
