BOSTON – The Suffolk volleyball team remains on the road Saturday, Oct. 20 for a tri-match at Norwich featuring the Regis Pride. The Rams will first take the court in Northfield, Vermont, at 1 p.m. versus the Pride, before squaring off with the Cadets at 3 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Kayla Barbera paved the way for Suffolk volleyball in a thrilling four-set victory over Simmons Wednesday night at Moore Gymnasium. The GNAC victory came by set scores 25-17, 25-21, 25-27 and 25-20.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Thanks to its four-set win at Simmons, Suffolk moved into fifth-place in the GNAC standings with a 5-3 league ledger and an 8-13 overall record. 

The foursome of Kayla Barbera (2.18 kps), Hannah Fabiano (2.18 kps), Chidera Nwankwo (1.94 kps) and Bridget Allison (1.73 kps) propel the Rams' 9.46 kps attack, which is primarily set up by Talia Lombardo (7.75 aps). 

Dakhensey Marcellus (4.48 dps) holds down the defensive unit with help from Barbera (2.43 dps) and Emma Feeney (2.15 dps).

PRIDE PROWL
Regis has put together back-to-back sweeps to head into Saturday in eighth-place in the GNAC standings at 10-12 overall and 3-5 in conference play. 

Katryna Veasey's powerful 3.22 kps leads the way for the Pride offensively with Rachel Bartels (1.35 kps) and Lauren Butt (1.30 kps) averaging over 1.00 kps. Mica van der Meulen and Tori Ondris have split time as Regis' setter, dishing out 3.64 aps and 3.29 aps, respectively. Caroline Fuentes paces the pack defensively with 3.40 dps with Veasey contributing 2.96 dps to the effort.

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • After falling to Regis 3-1 a year ago, Suffolk sits 6-8 against Regis since 1997.
  • Suffolk has dropped four straight outings against Regis.
  • Suffolk's last win over Regis came Sept. 6, 2006 in straight sets.

CADETS CATCHUP
Norwich rides a three-match win streak into the weekend with the 9-11 overall Cadets, who sit 2-6 against league foes, facing Regis prior to serving against the Rams. 

Kathryn Farnum (2.62 kps) and Michele Zummo (2.42 kps) each average over 2.00 kps to anchor Norwich's 9.67 kps offense. Emily Oliver has held down setting responsivities for the Cadets, handing out 7.97 aps. Briana Dawson Olivia Brown hold down the defensive side of the net with 4.30 dps and 3.12 dps, respectively.

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • The Suffolk, Norwich series is even at 6-6.
  • The Rams have won the last five meetings with the Cadets, all in straight sets.
