Volleyball Splits Tri-Match with Norwich, Curry

BOSTON – In its final home tri-match of the season, Suffolk volleyball picked up a straight set win over Norwich before falling in a five-set thriller to Curry Saturday at Regan Gymnasium.

MATCH ONE RECAP – SUFFOLK 3 NORWICH 0
Suffolk cruised past its conference counterpart as the Rams locked up a sweep over the Cadets with set scores of 25-23, 25-20 and 25-15. 

Hannah Fabiano led the way offensively with 13 kills on a .462 hitting clip to go along with nine digs, a pair of aces and one block. Talia Lombardo put together a state line of eight digs, seven aces, five assists and five kills. Liz Kerek set up Suffolk's 30-kill offense with 15 assists. The senior setter added nine digs to the defensive effort. 

MATCH TWO RECAP – SUFFOLK 2 CURRY 3
Suffolk took a 2-0 match lead thanks to winning the first and second stanzas by scores of 25-22 and 25-16. Curry rallied in the third and took the Rams down with a 29-27 decision. The Colonels claimed the fourth frame 25-20 to level the playing field and sealed the comeback victory with a 15-13 final frame win. 

Lombardo put together a triple-double effort with 14 kills, 17 assists and 18 digs. Fabiano and Kerek, meanwhile, each contributed double-double efforts. Kerek had 29 assists with 11 digs, while Fabiano added 13 digs and 10 kills. Dakhnesey Marcellus led Suffolk's defensive effort with 20 digs.
