VOTE: Lombardo NCAA DIII Most Feared Serve

BOSTON – Talia Lombardo of the Suffolk volleyball team currently leads NCAA Division III in service aces. For her efforts at the service line, the junior co-captain has been nominated as one of the nation's most feared servers in DIII Women's Volleyball. To help Lombardo secure the title, vote for her here

As of October 3, Lombardo sits second nationally with 1.02 aces per set. The number leads the team, league and region behind Notre Dame (Maryland)'s Jaime Reyes' 1.07.

The outside hitter from Windham, New Hampshire, has recorded 50 total aces on the year include a career-best 14 in a 3-1 win over Newbury Sept. 16. The 14 aces matched the program and league record, which was set by Suffolk's Kelsey Armstrong Sept. 13, 2008 and Emmanuel's Erin Mosely (2005). Lombardo became the first player in across NCAA DIII to produce 14 aces or more in a four-match outing since Emerson's Juliana Tucker served up 17 Oct. 5, 2013. Overall, her 14-aces outing sits 10th all-time in NCAA DIII history in a four-match contest.

Lombardo and the Rams are on a roll as of late. After sweeping Emmanuel for the Rams' first-ever win over the Saints, Suffolk defeated Anna Maria in straight sets and took down Albertus Magnus in a 3-2 thriller to improve to 8-6 on the season and 3-2 against conference competition. The three-match GNAC win-streak marks the most conference victories in a row since the Rams strung four together Oct. 19-29, 2005.

Suffolk and Lombardo looks to stretch its winning ways to four straight tonight, Wednesday, Oct. 4 as the Rams go for their first-ever win versus Lasell at 7 p.m. inside Regan Gymnasium.
