Volleyball Competes at Smith Invitational

NORTHAMPTON, MASS.  – Over the weekend, the Suffolk volleyball team took the courts at the Smith Invitational, where the Rams fell to Gallaudet, 3-0, Mt. St. Vincent, 3-0, and Western New England, 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Gallaudet took Suffolk down in straight sets by scores of 25-11, 25-15 and 25-13 to open the invitations action. The Rams battled the Dolphins, but came out on the wrong side of a straight set decision by scores of 25-19, 25-23 and 25-20. 

To wrap up the tournament, Suffolk fell behind 2-0 in the match after losing the first frame, 25-20 and dropping in the second, 25-19. The Rams forced a fourth set thanks to a 26-24 third set victory, but the blue-and-gold could not complete the comeback, falling in the final frame, 25-15, to lose the match 3-1. 

NOTEWORTHY

  • Hannah Fabiano paced Suffolk's attack versus the Dolphins and Golden Bears, registering 11 kills in each outing. To close the tournament, Fabiano was one dig shy of a double-double effort, her first, in the matchup against Western New England.
