BOSTON – Off to its best start since 2008, the Suffolk women's volleyball team opens a five-match homestand and its GNAC slate Tuesday, Sept. 13 when Johnson& Wales visits Regan Gymnasium. First serve is set to begin at 7 p.m.

UMass Boston snapped the Suffolk women's volleyball team's winning streak as the Beacons shutout the Rams, 3-0, in the blue-and-gold's finale of the Smith College Invitational at Ainsworth Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.

RUNDOWN ON THE RAMS
Suffolk was off to its best start in the program's record book, which dates back to 2003, after defeating Mass. Maritime (3-0), Smith (3-1) and Husson (3-0). The Rams winning streak was halted when they met UMass Boston in their finale of the Smith College Invitational and fell to the Beacons in straight sets.
Talia Lombardo boasts a 1.69 kps average with Bridget Allison's 1.38 kps falling right behind as the sophomore pair lead Suffolk's attack. Liz Kere has been the Rams main setter with 4.23 aps with Lombardo dishing out 1.77 aps. The Rams defense is led by Allison's 2.77 dps.
WILDCAT WAYS
Over the weekend, Johnson & Wales swept the JWU Invitational, sweeping Amherst, Bridgewater State, Gordon and Connecticut College to bring an undefeated 7-0 record into Tuesday's action. All of the Wildcat's victories this season have come in straight sets.
Maria Coniglio's 3.57 kps lead the way for JWU with Kate Walker (2.81), Emily Kalmink (2.71 kps) and Elizabeth Hamilton (2.43) all notching over 2.00 kps. Brylee Frank's 10.33 aps has set up a Wildcats offense that is hitting .317, led by Walker's .414 clip. Defensively, Gianna Esposito's 3.76 dps takes charge with Kalmink (1.19 bps), Walker (1.10 bps) Hamilton (2.52 dps) adding to the effort.
