Allison Lifts Volleyball to Victory Over Pratt

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Bridget Allison recorded 16 kills to lift the Suffolk volleyball team to a 3-1 victory Saturday afternoon over Pratt at the University of Saint Joseph's O'Connell Center. The Rams victory came in the form of set scores of 25-11, 22-25, 25-17 and 25-14.

Allison upstaged her classmates Talia Lombardo's 12 kills in the tri-match opener against the Blue Jays, as the first-year turned in the most kills by a Ram since Savannah Carpenter matched that number at Lasell College in 2013. Nine different Rams scored a kill to combine for 54 kills, the most by a Suffolk team since matching that number at Newbury in 2013. Liz Kerek and Caitlyn Mockler passed out 25 and 10 assists, respectively, to help Suffolk to a .269 hitting clip.

Mockler contributed defensively as the senior tallied a team-best 19 digs for the first double-double of her career. Lombardo added 14 digs and Rachel Fancy chipped in 12.

Charlotte Burch recorded 11 kills to pace Pratt (1-8).

Suffolk jumped out of the gates to an 11-0 advantage in the first frame. Pratt attempted a comeback as the score moved to 16-11 in favor of the Rams at the halfway point, before Suffolk strung together nine answered points to take set 1, 25-11.

Roles revered in the second stanza with the Canoneers jumping out to a 12-7 lead. The edge blossomed to an 18-11 edge, before Pratt put the set away on a Rachel Blackburn kill, 25-22.

Fancy leveled the third at 6-6 to spark a 6-0 stretch that put Suffolk ahead 11-6. The Rams never looked back as it cruised to a 25-17 victory. With its own fate in its hands, Suffolk controlled the final frame to take the match, 25-14.

The Rams return to the friendly confines of Regan Gymnasium Tuesday, Sept. 21 when it entertains UMass Dartmouth at 7 p.m.
