Volleyball Earns Tri-Match Split on Saturday

The Suffolk University Women's Volleyball team earned a split on Saturday afternoon in a tri-match hosted by Anna Maria College.

After falling to the host AMCATS 3-0 in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), Suffolk then defeated Eastern Nazarene College in non-league action by a 3-0 score.

Freshman Krista Iacobucci (Rocky Hill, Conn.) recorded 11 kills in the victory for Suffolk who move to a 7-14 overall record on the season.

Suffolk topped the Lions in three consecutive sets; 26-24, 25-20 and 25-22.

Senior Glamarys Sierra (Carolina, Puerto Rico) finished with a team-high three service aces along with 23 setting assists to help lead Suffolk to the victory. Sierra along with junior Yabriela Perez (Boston, Mass.) were defensive standouts as each collected 21 digs in the contest. Perez also finished with eight kills, while junior Katie Matatall (Danville, N.H.) collected five in the win.

Suffolk opened the day with a 3-0 loss to Anna Maria, who were victorious in straight sets by scores of: 25-15, 25-20 and 25-17.

Perez finished the opened leading the team with seven kills, while Iacobucci also chipped in with six.

The in-conference loss moves Suffolk to a 2-3 record in GNAC play.

Suffolk will be back in action on Wednesday evening when they travel to Gordon College at 7:00pm in non-league action.
