Volleyball Tops Mass. Maritime 3-0

The Suffolk University Women's Volleyball team picked up their second consecutive win with a 3-0 shutout over Massachusetts Maritime Academy on Tuesday evening in the Regan Gymnasium.

Freshman Krista Iacobucci (Rocky Hill, Conn.) finished the evening with a game-high 11 kills to pace Suffolk as they improve to a 2-5 mark on the young season.

Suffolk swept all three sets by scores of; 25-14, 25-15, 25-20.

The Rams collected a total of 12 service aces in the three games as junior Caitlyn Mockler (Manchester, Conn.) led the way with five. Senior Glamarys Sierra (Carolina, Puerto Rico) recorded 14 setting assists as she and freshman Jane Buckley (Plaistow, N.H.) each had five kills on the night. Freshman Liz Kerek (Holbrook, Mass.) had a strong evening as she recorded the lone solo block for either side on the night and also picked up a pair of kills in the victory.

Senior Deb Langley (Abington, Mass.) and junior Charleen Klangos (Lowell, Mass.) each had four kills in the game for the Buccaneers who now drop to 0-4 on the season. Klangos also recorded eight digs in the setback, while sophomore Stephanie O'Connor (Westwood, Mass.) led all players with 10 digs.

Both teams will be back in action on the weekend.

The Buccaneers will square with Pine Manor College in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1:00pm.

Suffolk will travel across the Charles River to compete in the MIT Invitational beginning on Friday against Endicott College at 4:00pm.
