Women's Volleyball Split GNAC Tri-Match

The Suffolk University Volleyball team (9-15, 3-5 GNAC) split a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC)Tri-Match on Saturday afternoon. The Rams topped the Blue Jays of St. Joseph College (1-21, 0-8 GNAC) by a 3-0 score before falling to the Rivier College Raiders (15-9, 9-1 GNAC), 3-1 in their second game of the day.

In the opener the Rams were led by junior Melissa Griffin (Byfield, Mass.) who recorded 13 kills, three service aces and 11 digs in the contest. Suffolk won all three sets, 25-16, 25-15 and 25-13. Senior Julie Sullivan (Haverhill, Mass.) had 22 setting assists and 13 digs as well to help guide the Rams to victory.

In their second match of the day the Rams came out early as they committed no attack errors in the opening set winning 25-17. Rivier would win the next three contests easily as they move to 9-1 in conference play and in second place in the GNAC standings. Freshman Maggie Hillman (North Andover, Mass.) had a team-high eight kills in the contest and also led the Rams with 18 digs. Senior Kelly Loder (Billerica, Mass.) recorded four solo blocks, along with six kills in the four set match for the Rams.

Suffolk will be back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Becker College in non-conference action beginning at 7:00pm.
