4x100 Relay Repeats CCC Award, Fogg Track Athlete of the Week

CCC RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Suffolk women's outdoor track & field team scooped up a pair of weekly awards from the Commonwealth Coast Conference for the second time in as many weeks as Sydney Fogg was named CCC Track Athlete of the Week and the Rams' 4x100 Relay Team of JJ ContehHilma OrtegaEmily Concepcion and Amanda Walden repeated as CCC Relay Team of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Fogg punched her ticket to NCAA Division III New Englands in the 1500. The senior from York, Maine clocked a 4:46.66, the top time in the CCC this season and second-best performance by a Ram in the event in program history. Her personal-best performance helped Fogg win the 36-runner event.

In the 4x100 Relay, the foursome of Conteh, Ortega, Concepcion and Walden rewrote their school record with a 49.76 to take second. The blue-and-gold group was just behind the relay squad from Boston College, who won the six-team heat with a 47.78 showing.

The weekly distinction is the first of Fogg's outdoor career. She is the first Rams' runner to collect a weekly award from the CCC this season and first since Walden earned CCC Track Athlete of the Week May 1, 2023. The 4x100 group are the first Rams' Relay Team to earn multiple CCC weekly accolades in the same season. The two awards in the same year tie a program record for weekly relay team recognition as a year ago, Suffolk picked up a pair in the 4x100 (March 27) and the 4x400 (May 1).

Anchored by Fogg and the 4x100 Relay Team, Suffolk looks to claim its first CCC Outdoor Championship this weekend, April 25-27. The championships kick off with the steeplechase Thursday at Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts, with the remainder of the competition taking place Friday and Saturday at Portsmouth High School in Portsmouth, Rhode Island.
