Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Competes at Tufts Snowflake Classic

SOMERVILLE, Mass. – Suffolk women's track & field saw two Rams produce personal records at Tufts Snowflake Classic Saturday at the Gantcher Center. 

Gracie O'Connell logged a new personal-best in the hammer throw, while Sydney Fogg clocked a career-high in the 800 to push the blue-and-gold to a 17th-place team performance in the 20-team field.  

O'Connell heaved the hammer throw 30.34 meters to take 10th in the event. She also competed in the javelin (19.96) in discus (20.35), alongside her teammates Lydia Comprosky (27.30) and Gabby Anderson (25.70). Both Anderson and Comprosky (7.33) participated in the shot put as well. Anderson shined with a seventh-place performance with a 9.44-meter toss.  

Fogg made two laps around the track in 2:26.56 to finish 16th in the 800.   

In addition to Fogg, Suffolk's sprinters were featured in the 100, 200 and 400. Lauren Wood highlighted the Rams in the 100 with a seventh-place finish behind a time of 13.26. Alyssa Rodriguez (13.87) and Sarah Forrister (14.39). Kaylie Groom participated in both the 100 (13.68) and 400 (1:05.79), while her sister, Shannon Groom, ran the 200 (29.68) and 400 (1:05.79). Maren Halpin raced the 200 (28.72) and 400 (1:06.74) as well. Isabelle Slocum took part in the 100 (14.65) and 100m hurdles (17.79), alongside Julia Leavey, who took eighth with a time 

Long distance wise, April Banuelos represented the Rams in the 1500 (6:10.63). 

Nicole DiBenedetto registered a fifth-place showing in the high jump as she cleared 1.47 meters. Forrister took ninth in the pole vault with a 2.55-meter showing and leaped 4.45 meters in the long jump. Kara Sickle also participated in the pole vault and locked up 12th. 

Suffolk will be back in action next weekend, Saturday, April 8, at Fitchburg State's Jim Sheehan Memorial Invite.
