Filloramo Grabs CCC Field Athlete & Rookie of the Week

CCC RELEASE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Caitlyn Filloramo of the Suffolk women's outdoor track & field team swept the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) weekly field awards as the freshman took home both athlete and rookie of the week thanks to her performance at the Regis Spring Classic and Gordon Invitational over the weekend.

A native of Southport, Connecticut, Filloramo opened the weekend with a first-place finish in the hammer throw at the Regis Spring Classic. The rookie tossed a personal-best 47.75-meters to top the 16-competitor field. That toss is the 23rd-best throw in the event in NCAA Division III this season and sealed the Rams' spot at New England's later this season.

In Weston, Massachusetts, she also made her outdoor collegiate debut in the discus, in which she placed fourth of 27 foes with a 28.20-meter toss. A day later at the Gordon Invitational, Filloramo upstaged that effort in the discus with a career-high 31.48-meter throw, which was good for third in the 27-participant field that featured foes from CCC counterparts Endicott, UNE, Gordon, Wentworth and Nichols.

Filloramo repeated as the league's best field rookie over a seven-day stretch. She picked up her first weekly outdoor honor a week ago, April 4, with such honor. She is the first Ram to be the conference's best field athlete in a seven-day stretch since Allison Rodrigues earned the same recognition April 26, 2021. She is the first Suffolk student-athlete to grab multiple weekly awards in the same week from the CCC since Amanda Walden swept the track weekly awards April 26, 2021. Filloramo is the first field athlete to take home both CCC weekly nods in the same week in program history.

Filloramo and Suffolk are back in action this weekend at the Penmen Relays Saturday, April 16.
