Women’s Track & Field Opens Season at Tufts’ Snowflake Classic

SOMERVILLE, Mass. – Suffolk women's track & field lifted the lid on its second varsity season Saturday at the Tufts' Snowflake Classic at Dussault Track.  

Mariama Kamara was the standout performer for Suffolk as the junior finished 13th in the field of 49 competitors in the 100-meter dash after clocking in 13.15. Dahkensey Marcellus (14.32) also compete on the course, along with Grace Scholz (13.93), who made her track & field debut and ran the 200-meter dash as well.  Scholz also ran the 200-meter dash along with Julianna Trost (1:13.69).

Three Rams' runners competed in the 1500-meter run in Natalie Fay (5:50.69), Skyler Spanbauer (5:54.00) and Michaela Casey (6:00.25). 

Julia Hunt rounded out the runners in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.12.

Lindsey O'Dea donned the blue-and-gold in the high jump with Megan Qualters and Payton Dockus each trying their hands in the pole vault. 

Allison Rodrigues stood out in the fielding events as the freshman competed in both the shot put and the javelin throw. In her javelin throw debut, she put together a 10th-place showing with a 32.35-meter toss.  

Savannah Hunter participated in two events as well; the shot put (8.81 M) and the discuss throw (27.11 M). 

The Rams will be back in action Friday, April 5 when they head to the Regis Spring Classic.
