Women’s Indoor Track & Field Begins Year at Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener

BOSTON – Suffolk women's indoor track & field got its 2021-22 campaign underway Saturday, Dec. 4 at Boston University's Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener. The Rams participated in a dozen event at the Terriers Track & Tennis Center.  

The Rams had a six-runner contingent in the 60-meter dash, all of who made their indoor debut. Sophomore Lucia Seide clocked an 8.49 to finish 27th out of 44 competitors. Her classmate Lauren Wood was two spots behind her thanks to her time of 8.52. Amanda Walden was 0.06 seconds after that to take 31st. Women's soccer's players Alicia Bibi (8.85) and Klaudia Rushi (8.89) took 37th and 39th, respectively, with Shonette Crossdale's 9.79 rounding out the Suffolk student-athletes in the event. 

Walden and Rushi competed in the 200 as well. Walden finished the half lap in 27.75 to take 28th, while Rushi logged a 29.75 to finish 38th. 

Erika Penney (44.37) made her collegiate debut in the 300. Emily Concepcion (1:04.52) raced the 400 for her first collegiate race and Jocelyn Triscik's (1:45.32) indoor inauguration was in the 600.  

A quarter of blue-and-gold runners raced the 1000. Sydney Fogg anchored Suffolk's performers with a time of 3:16.12 to place 16th. Therese McKeagney (3:27.39) and Christina Baggit (3:29.46) finished one after another in 20th and 21st, respectively. Sarah Roberts' (3:34.84) 24th-place performance competed the group. 

Skyler Spanbauer and Gwen Koziara participated in long-distance as well. Spanbauer (6:07.52) registered a 27th-place showing in the mile and Koziara (18:46.94) took 64th in the 5000.  

Jumping wise, the Rams saw student-athletes in the high jump and long jump. Wood was the lone Suffolk participate in the long jump and finished 15th with a leap of 4.81 meters. Grace Danehy paced the blue-and-gold's five competitiors in the high jump as she cleared 1.45 to finish 13th. Julia Leavey (1.45), Nicole DiBenedetto (1.40), Kamryn Reilly (1.40) and Shannon MacArthur (1.35) jumped over the bar for the first time in their collegiate careers. 

Allison Rodrigues led Suffolk's shot putters with a 10.23-meter toss, good for 12th. Caitlyn Filloramo was two places behind with a 9.84-meter throw. Gracie O'Connell (8.33), Lydia Comprosky (7.83) and Michelle Riley were featured in the event as well. 

Filloramo shined in the weight throw with a 10-place performance behind a 10.53-meter toss. O'Connell (8.55) and Comprosky (8.48) to part in the event also.

Suffolk will be back in action next Saturday, Dec. 11 at Northeastern's Joe Donahue Games at the Reggie Lewis Center.
