Upperclassmen Trio to Captain Women’s Track & Field

BOSTON – Suffolk women's track & field will be under the leadership of Olivia Chilcott, Natalie Fay and Allison Rodrigues as the threesome were named tri-captains, head coach Will Feldman announced.

Rodrigues returns to her post from a year ago, while Chilcott and Fay will be in the leadership role for the indoor and outdoor seasons for the first time.

"We are fortunate to have three terrific women leading our women's track team this year," Feldman said.

The trio has helped the Rams get off to a fast start in program history and become regional contenders every season.

Rodrigues, who is also a member of Suffolk's women' s soccer squad, has been the most prominent on the New England level, making trips to the regional meet in each of her first two seasons. The field athlete, from North Andover, Massachusetts, has made a name for herself with a pair of GNAC Champion titles – indoor in the shot put and outdoor in the javelin. The two-time all-league honoree also took home GNAC Field Rookie of the Year for her performance as a freshman in the 2019 outdoor campaign.

"Allison has proven to be the standout thrower I thought she could when I first saw in high school," said Feldman. "On meet day you can count on her to bring it. She's been one of the top throwers in the conference and region the last two years, and having someone like that on the team gives everyone a little extra confidence."

Chilcott, who took over the captain role for the women's cross country team, has been a steady point provider for the blue-and-gold in long-distance races.

Feldman said, "Liv's upbeat personality and willingness to go above and beyond for the team has been the key to the success of our freshmen over the last two years."

Like Chiclott, Fay is a long distance runner as well. The Chelmsford, Massachusetts, product has improved on each of her times season after season and looks to leave her mark on the program this spring.

"I couldn't be prouder of Natalie," Feldman said. "Natalie was a walk on who we found in the fitness center her freshman year, and we managed to convince her to join the team. She has worked unbelievably hard for four years, and has earned everything that has come her way. It's been amazing to watch her grow and gain more and more confidence each year. From a shy freshman to a clear leader who is not intimidated by anything. She's exactly the type of example I want for the team especially our underclassmen."

Suffolk's indoor season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Rams outdoor schedule has yet to be released, but is set to take place as originally planned at this point and time.
