Rams’ Pair Qualifies for NCAA DIII Indoor Track & Field National Championships

INDIANAPOLIS – In just its second varsity season, the Suffolk women's indoor track & field team will be represented at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field National Championships this weekend as juniors Emily Manfra and Emma Weisse were announced in the field late Sunday night.

Manfra and Weisse will take their talents to the national tournament held March 8-9 at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston with UMass Boston serving as host. Manfra earned her spot in the mile, while her classmate is in the 3000 meter field.

For each women's individual event contested, including the pentathlon, the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For a complete list of participants, click here. Manfra's rightful place in the top 20 in the mile came with the University's first-ever sub-5:00.0 mile at Boston University's John Terrier Classic Jan. 25 when the Stoneham, Massachusetts, crossed the finish line in 4:56.82. Weisse, meanwhile, secured her spot behind a team of 10:06.52 in the 3000 meter run.

The Rams' pair are the first-ever Suffolk student-athletes to compete at the indoor national championships and the only participants from a GNAC member in the field.
