Indoor Track & Field Competes at the Panther Invitational

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Suffolk's men's and women's indoor track & field teams competed at the Panther Invitational hosted by Plymouth State Saturday afternoon. As a team the men finished eighth, while the women took 11th.

Freshman Matyas Csiki-Fejer had the standout performance of the day in the mile, finishing second. His time of 4:21.84 put the St. Louis, Missouri. native just 0:00.50 behind the leader in the field of 34. Csiki-Fejer took the course with his teammates Roth Santos, Nick Malm, Hunter Toyoda, Keoni Geers, and Arthur Lacerda. Santos finished a time of 4:42.04, eight spots behind Csiki-Fejer in ninth. Malm crossed the tape eight seconds later (16th), followed by Toyoda (23rd), Geers (26th), and Lacerda (31st). 

Fellow freshman Robert Solari also had a day with a second-place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.80 meters. 

Freshman Michael Power and junior Matt Sambuceti were the field competitor's for the blue-and-gold on the men's side. Power put together a 10.33 meter throw in the shot put along with an 8.64 meter toss in the weighted throw. Sambuceti fared better in the shot put with a 10.02 meter throw and a 10.25 meter performance in the weighted throw. 

On the women's side 10 different Rams competed in 10 events. Mariama Kamara (60 M Dash, 200 M Dash) and Julia Hunt (60 M Hurdles) took part in short distance, while Megan Qualters (400 M Dash), Julianna Trost (500 M Dash), Olivia Chilcott (800 M Dash), Natalie Fay (Mile), and Dakhensey Marcellus (4x200 M Dash) ran long distance.

Lindsey O'Dea tried her hand at the high jump. 

Kamara had the highest placing of the day for Suffolk's women's squad in the 60 meter dash. The junior finished second behind a time of 8.11.She also finished fourth in the 200 meter dash. 

Allison Rodrigues performed well in the field; placing third in the shot put with an 11.40 meter throw. Savannah Hunter also participated in the shot put. 

The Rams will be back in action this weekend when they compete at the David Henry Valentine Invite on Friday, Feb.  8 at Boston University.
