Indoor Track & Field Compete at Branwen Smith-King Invitational

MEDFORD, Mass. – Over the weekend the Suffolk indoor track & field teams participated at Tufts' Branwen Smith-King Invitational at the Gantcher Field House. The 12 Ram men combined for a 19th-place performance, while the women's squad competed individually. 

Youssef Hassan represented the Rams in both the 60-meter and 200-meter dash with times of 8.14 and 26.32, respectively. 

Robert Solari also competed in multiple events, splitting his time on the track and in the field. In the 400 meter dash, the freshman from East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, finished 20th behind a time of 54.51. In the high jump, he cleared 1.80 meters, which was good for fifth. 

Suffolk had two bibs in the 1000 meter dash in Hunter Toyoda and Arthur Lacerda. Toyoda's time of 2:54.02 put the rookie in 19th with Lacerda crossing the tape just five seconds after Toyoda to take 20th. 

In long distance races, Keoni Geers ran in the mile with Roth Santos and Nick Malm each running in the 3000 meter. Geers put together a one mile time of 5:06.0. Santos finished 33rd in the 3000 M run behind a time of 9:24.74 with Malm clocking in at 9:54.51. 

Justin Patten rounded out the Rams' male runners in the 60 meter hurdles.
In the field events, Michael Power and Matt Sambuceti participated in both the shot put and the weight throw with Michael Balestra competing in the weight throw as well.

On the women's side 10 different Rams competed in nine events. Dakhensey Marcellus (60 M Dash), Megan Qualters  (200 M Dash) and Julia Hunt (60 M Hurdles) ran short distances, while Olivia Chilcott (600 M Run), Julianna Trost (600 M Run), Meagan Dyer (Mile), Natalie Fay (Mile) and Skyler Spanbauer (3000 M Run) ran distances. 

Lindsey O'Dea and Qualters tried their hands at the high jump. 

Allison Rodrigues put the best performance of the day in the books for the women with a 10th-place showing in the shot put behind a toss of 10.63 meters. 

Suffolk will be back in action this weekend when it competes at Tufts' Cupid Challenge Friday, Feb. 1 and Boston University's Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invite Saturday, Feb. 2.
