BEVERLY, Mass. – For the first time in program history Suffolk women's tennis saw its name in the Conference of New England postseason bracket as the Rams clinched the sixth seed, the league office announced Wednesday night.

The Rams compiled a 1-5 league ledger and it was the win – a 5-2 victory at Western New England Saturday, Oct. 5 -- that capped off Suffolk's CNE campaign that sealed the blue-and-gold's playoff fate.

It is the first time Suffolk will compete in the CNE postseason since joining the league in 2020. The postseason berth is the Rams first since 2018 and 12th conference postseason appearance overall. It is the first time the Rams will compete in a conference tournament as the sixth seed.

The first round sends Suffolk to third seed Endicott Tuesday, Oct. 15 for a 2:00 p.m. first serve. The Gulls wrapped up their conference calendar in a tie for second with Gordon with a 4-2 league mark. The Fighting Scots edged Endicott out for the first-round thanks to their 4-3 defeat of the Gulls Sept. 30.

In the regular season, Endicott blanked the blue-and-gold, 7-0, Sept. 21.

Overall, the Gulls have commanded the all-time series with Suffolk since 2001. The Rams are 3-8 all-time versus Endicott, according to the record books, which are missing the 1995 campaign, as well as the 2002 season results. Suffolk looks to snap a three-match skid versus Endicott and is in search of its first win over the Gulls since Oct. 4, 2007, a 7-2 decision.

The winner of next Tuesday's tilt punch its ticket to the semifinals and will face second-seed Gordon Thursday, Oct. 17 at 3:00 p.m. in Wenham, Massachusetts.

On the other side of the bracket, regular-season champion and top-seed Nichols awaits the decision of the first-round battle between fourth-seed Roger Williams and fifth-seed Curry.

The 2024 CNE Women's Tennis Champion will be crowned Saturday, Oct. 19 at the highest remaining seed.
